Red Flag Warning

The National Weather Service in Boise has issued a red flag warning... which is in effect from 3 PM MDT /2 PM PDT/ this afternoon to 9 PM MDT /8 PM PDT/ this evening.

A cold front will cross the district late this afternoon bringing gusty west and northwest winds to the area lasting through the evening. In combination with these gusty winds will be single digit relative humidities in the 5 to 10 percent range. Temperatures ahead of the front will reach well into the 90s. Critically dry fuels are in place over the red flag warning area.

A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now... or will shortly. A combination of strong winds... low relative humidity... and warm temperatures will create explosive fire growth potential.
