We've Had Some Forest Fires Here In Idaho!

Sunday we took the Wave-runner out to Lucky Peak Reservoir.  The smoke from fires in the area were the worst that I have ever seen!  It was like floating a lake on an alien planet!

Finally Got The Waverunner Out!

After a good once over that included a new battery, spark plugs and an inspection we spent 3 hours tearing around on the Waverunner today. A ton of fun!

A Whole Week In One Place!

I must say it has been nice staying in one place for the last week. It's an extra bonus that it has been at home!

The shop is complete with just a few minor touch up jobs left to do. I put up the wall racking, so Deb and I have begun to transfer all of the stuff from boxes and piles in the garage to shelves and cupboards in the shop. It will take some time to complete the move but it will be nice to finally park the cars in the garage. Here is what goes in the shop: ATV's, Waverunner, ATV trailer, utility trailer, Jeep Wrangler, and there is still room left.

The yard is done! Not sort of done, or kind of done, but really done. We watch the back yard closely as the drill seed grass is beginning to come up, and even mowed the front yard where the sod has taken hold. We intend to bring in some more plants and do some things here and there, but we will do that ourselves as landscaping can get expensive fast!

It is finally getting cool here in Idaho and no one is happier than we are. The house is sitting right at 65 degrees with no air conditioning or heat running for the last week. Of course it still has not rained a drop since we arrived in July, but you can't ask for everything! The air is finally starting to clear of smoke from all of the forest fires. We had some days that were so bad, they cancelled all out door activities for schools and public sports fields. I thought I was back in Hong Kong! It smelled like one giant camp fire outside.

I will shoot some photos of the completed shop and yard tomorrow.

We Found Some Water

Are We There Yet?

We are now in the home stretch of the move to Idaho! We used this weekend to prep the Battle Ground house for the coming invasion of movers, because once they get here it all goes.

Today, July 3rd Deb and I fly to Boise for a walk through of the new house and the signing of the house papers. We actually don't close until Friday July 7th, but since we need to be back in Washington with the movers, this is the only day we could pull it off. Don't think that this means the house will be done today! The builders will be working up until the very last minute. The carpet does not go in until Wednesday and they will still be doing final touches on Friday.

Tuesday, July 4th we will make a trip to the dump with any junk we don't need and then I start disassembling the racking in the garage. The movers will transport the racking with out complaints, but they won't un-screw it from the walls, same goes for the cabinets. Also, all things like mowers, edgers, roto-tillers, any thing with fuel have to be drained of gas for the movers to take them.

Wednesday, July 5th the fun really begins! The movers show up... And the first thing they will want is the refrigerator, washer and dryer. So, we have to put all of the perishables into a large cooler filled with dry ice for the next 6 days, and then we can reload it once we get to Boise.

Thursday & Friday, July 6th & 7th packing and more packing by the moving company.

Saturday, July 8th we do a final clean up of the house, hand over the keys, and hit the road. Deb will haul the ATV's with her Jeep and I will haul the Waverunner with the Wrangler. We will drive the rest of the day to arrive at the new house that night.

Sunday, July 9th we plan on hanging out in the new house and thinking about where the furniture will go once it arrives on Monday.

90+ Degrees = Waverunner Time!

People thought we were a couple and offered to take our photo together. Loren & I both choked back the bile and allowed ourselves to be photographed. The 'hee bee gee bee dance' was done later, and the brother - sister bond was restored.


I got the camera all ready, asked Loren to get some shots of me, I went out there and rode it like a maniac... Pretty much risked my life! I get back, missing my hat, the high temperature engine warning alarm is going off, and I have suffered some slight Fiberglas damage, but I know that she must have taken some great photos! This is the only photo she took. Okay, there were a few others... But this is the only one that was in focus.

P.S. Deb is down in Eugene for a CPA meeting. She is owed one make up run to the lake when she gets back.

Here I Sit...

Welcome to Saturday morning. It is hard to believe that it is July 9th and that it rained hard all night! Once again the weekend has been stolen by mother nature as she turns the yard into mud.

Oh well, I spent last night doing maintenance on the computer fleet, so finding that every unit needs major work. Deb Computer: Dead, needs new power supply. Rick Computer: Very sick, has a bad spyware infection that has corrupted the browser and causes the machine to crash on a regular basis. Vonage Phone: Sick, Some type of hardware conflict causes the phone to drop calls on a regular basis. The lesson to be learned here is, Be careful when you spend time putting out one fire (house), because others maybe flaring behind you (computers). I have a plan though, and might be able to correct all of these ailments before the weekend is out.

We are about a week away from the arrival of the dining room chairs. These had to be made in Canada, and it has been almost 8 weeks since we ordered them. Deb is very excited.

I have spent the last 2 weeks prepping all of the toys for a big one week camping trip that is now only a week away. Both ATV's have had tune-ups, and the Waverunner has new spark plugs. The Waverunner has been sitting on the battery charger for quite awhile now. I fear it might need a new battery... We will see.

Time to go and have the morning cup of coffee...
