Goodbye Kauai

Flight leaves in 2 and a half hours.

I was at : Puhi-Hanamaulu, HI

Last day on the Island

We are pretending it won't end but it will when we board the 9:00 PM 'red-eye' tonight.  We have until 6:00 tonight to checkout of the resort, so it should be a comfortable day.

Sightseeing is the goal with a swim this afternoon.  We had our last serving of Macadamia Nut pancakes this morning... a sad moment indeed!

Staying Awake!

Adjusting to the time change is a work in progress for me and Deb.  Our goal for tonight is 9:00 pm or midnight Boise time.  The sound of the sea is making this goal harder than you would image!  For me the ocean surf white noise is just the ticket for a great night's sleep.  Well, with vacation do you really have to hit all your goals?

Good Morning!

Wow, this is a great place.

I'll Be Careful!

We Have Arrived!

It is good to see a bed.  We have finally arrived at the Hanalei Colony Resort.  The ocean is less than 20 feet away and with the high surf warning turns out to be the ultimate white noise machine.  I'm telling you it is LOUD!

We fought a 100 mph head wind the whole way here and at times the forward ground speed of the plane was just a little over 400 mph!  Not so good when you just "wanna be there."

Time to sleep.

The Long Way...

We started at 6:00 am Boise time and now 8 hours later we've made it all the way to Los Angeles!  We've had to wait for our gate to clear in Salt Lake; sat on the tarmack while we reported a smoking engine in Boise; and had to be towed to our gate in LA!  Wow, I was worried I had lost my touch.

Finally!

After 4 hours we are finally flying.  I am typing this as we head north to Lewiston, Idaho with our final destination being Orofino.  The irony that the total travel time by air will now equal the time it would have taken to drive there is not lost on us.  I am ready to be done travelling!

Twas The Night Before Christmas...

And we are sitting in the abandoned Boise Airport.  We were so close!  Boarded, buckled up, whistling Christmas tunes and then the mechanics started rushing the cockpit.  When the power to the entire plane is cut and they are using flashlights to see, you know it's going to be a long night!  We were asked to de-plane and here we sit waiting for an update.
I will keep you posted.
