Glued a bunch of 2x4's together to make a nice thick bench top. The only problem is it's nowhere close to flat! What to do? |
I attach long rails on both sides of the bench with a sacrificial board in between. |
I use two taunt strings crossed to determine if the two sides have formed a level plane. |
Once the strings are removed I placed a sliding box that my router fits into on top of the rails. |
Using a very wide flat bit on the router I slide the box and the router in all directions to remove any high spots on the bench. The bench was pretty warped so several progressive passes were needed. |
Chopping my way to level and making lots of sawdust in the process! |
