Earthquake Ethel’s had two bars, three dance floors, and six video projectors with drop down screens — the first of their kind in Portland. Its sound system was a 10,000 watt extension of my own home sound system, featuring four-channel surround audio on each dance floor and numerous low frequency speakers embedded in the walls and under some booth seats.
Each evening at 8pm and midnight, we played a music and video sequence that featured a rumbling earthquake effect.
