Typhoon Molave

We're keeping an eye on this... So far it looks to be just another breezy day in Kuna, Idaho.

Tropical Cyclone Bulletin

Here is the latest Tropical Cyclone bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

The Strong Wind Signal, No. 3 is in force.

This means that winds with mean speeds of 41 to 62 kilometres per hour are expected. (25 to 38 mph)

At 5 p.m., Typhoon Molave was estimated to be about 280 kilometres east of Hong Kong (near 21.9 degrees north 116.8 degrees east) and is forecast to move west-northwest at about 22 kilometres per hour in the general direction of the Pearl River estuary.

The rainbands of Molave are already affecting Hong Kong. With Molave moving closer, rain will become heavier and more frequent overnight. Local winds will also increase significantly.

Molave is expected to pass within 100 km of Hong Kong between midnight and day break tomorrow. The Observatory will consider whether or not the Gale or Storm Wind Signal No. 8 would be required tonight. In the past hour, the maximum sustained winds recorded at Waglan Island and Cheung Chau were 67 and 50 kilometres per hour with maximum gusts 81 and 74 kilometres per hour respectively.
