Everyone Is Doing Well

We're In Shenzhen Today

Wednesday morning and we're off again to start shopping.  Glad to be further south where the long-johns and hand warmers are no longer necessary.  The pollution level has been pretty bad compared to past journeys.  You finish your day and you literally feel gritty!

This is what it looks like.  You find yourself trying to take shallow breaths, subconsciously attempting to avoid breathing it in.

Remember, that China burns a ton of coal!  Heating and cooking are done in the rural areas using these preformed hunks of coal.

The pollution does make for some moody photos though.

I have a ton of photos to upload but no time right now... I'll put some more up when I get a chance.

Greetings From Zhengzhou, China

Just checked into the hotel here in Zhengzhou, the Yuda Palace Hotel.  It is quite smoggy here as it was in Shanghai!  No direct access to the blog since I can't make it through the China firewall.  Feeling good and looking forward to a hard nights sleep.  There should be some good picture taking starting tomorrow and unblocked internet access by Wednesday.

Tired In Japan

Sitting here in the Business Lounge looking at strange food and wishing for a soft bed.  Just another 10 hours and sleep will be mine!  First stop will be Shanghai.

Heading Off To China

It is time once again to make the long journey to Asia.  To do what again?  Go shopping!  This trip we'll be selecting for Christmas of 2010.  From north to south it will get quite cold in Shanghai and over 70 degrees in Hong Kong.  I'm prepared with a wide selection of clothing, so what ever mother nature dishes out I'll be ready.

Boise, Seattle, Japan and then Shanghai.  This should provide all of the air travel my heart may desire for the next 24 hours!

I would like to take a moment to thank "Gym On The Run" for the delightful workout early this morning!  I have been provided by Alaska Airlines a glass of juice and a snack.  The problem seems to be using my noodle arms to get said food up to my mouth!  I will ask for a straw and skip the snack.

I just had my coffee tested by the TSA

"Sir, could you please place your coffee on the cart."

Thee TSA guys and a rolling cart have just wheeled up to me in the waiting area.  I place my just purchased Iced Mocha on the cart.  A small tester strip is held about a half inch above the straw for a 5 count.  The wand is then held out for an assistant to apply one drop of chemical to the tip.  I pass and the Mocha is mine again.  Everyone waiting for the plane with any drinks is tested.

Never had that happen before.

39 mph Winds Are Beating The House Right Now

Strong east winds continue across the area. Speeds between Caldwell...Boise and Mountain Home are sustaining 20 to 30 mph with the occasional gust up to 40 mph. These winds are expected to persist through midnight then diminish. The strong winds are caused by a deep low pressure system off the Oregon coast pressing against high pressure over Utah and eastern Idaho. High profile vehicles need to be vigilant for Crosswinds. The situation is being watched for possible upgrade to Wind Advisory.
