Special Weather Statement

Snowfall at Boise...

The 0.5 inch of snow which fell at Boise before 6 am MDT has brought the seasonal total to 32.4 inches... surpassing the 32.1 inches which fell in the winter of 2001-2002. Boise now has the most snow since the winter of 1992-1993 when 34.5 inches fell. Although snow was still falling at 6 am that mark seems out of reach.

The most snow ever recorded at Boise was 50.0 inches in the winter of 1916-1917... and the last time 40 inches fell was in the winter of 1968-1969 when 41.1 inches fell.

Normal seasonal snowfall at Boise is only 19.4 inches.

The Next Giant Leap For Mankind

NASA is serious, very serious, about launching the most difficult mission ever attempted by the human race - putting an astronaut on Mars. The voyage will cover hundreds of millions of miles and take two-and-a-half years round trip. It sounds like science fiction.

Let Me In!

The Plug!

After taking about 36 hours to fill the pool I woke up this morning and shut off all the water. Sometime around noon today I glanced out the window and noticed that the water level had dropped by over a foot! Thinking something bad might be happening, I called the pool guys and they soon showed up with a fix for the problem. The plug for the drain. Due to a mix-up in communication, the main drain plug had been taken out during the plastering process. So with 28,000 gallons of downward pressure, the pool was indeed emptying pretty quickly.

I hold the missing link, while a diving 'pool man' gets the cover off of the open drain hole.

He is using a dry suit and this little compressor is pumping air down to him.

Trust me, the water is pretty damn cold!

This "lucky" man is the first person to "swim" in the pool!

I have the hoses running again. I have my fingers crossed that the pool will hold water this time.

Pool Update

The mixing truck.

The plaster is sprayed in, just like the shockcrete was.

A bunch of troweling! Note the fancy spike shoes.

We added some Manta Rays for fun.

It's looking like a pool now!

There is still some tile work to be done on the top of the table, but it is looking nice.

Pumps, filters and heater are going onto the mechanical pad.

April Fools... You've Been Rick Rolled!

April Fool's Day, 2008

On April 1, 2008 (April Fools' Day), all YouTube Featured Videos hyperlinked to the Rickroll. The prank began with international YouTube portals before affecting the main site.[13] In addition, LiveJournal announced on the same day that they would be adding a new member to their Advisory Board, linking members to the journal "rickastley", which contains a Rickroll.[14] Also, on the same day, Isohunt had the Rick Astley video instead of their normal frontpage, as did LyricWiki.org. Popular gaming website Kongregatealso claimed to have finally launched its upcoming card game Kongai, only to leave its players not with the game, but being rickrolled. Also on the same day, the Mahalo Daily video podcast hosted by Veronica Belmont produced a Rickroll purporting to be an interview with Steve Jobs. Media search engine SeeqPod included an mp3 of "Never Gonna Give You Up" as the top hit for all searches. Gamefaqs.com's Poll of the Day featured only nonsense answers drawn from the song's lyrics.

In episode 17 of the music review podcast Have You Heard, while discussing Rick Astley's reaction to rickrolling, the hosts play clips of the song effectively rickrolling their audience.

The website Fark featured a link to a video claiming to be a blooper reel for the Muppets but instead linked to a video of Beaker performing Rick Astley's song. Other social bookmarking sites like Digg and Reddit subsequently joined in linking the video.

The blog The Church of Joe featured a story on the supposed release of Frog in a Blender 2 by JoeCartoon, but Rickrolled it's visitors with the links.

The online web store Think Geek advertised on their front page a Betamax to HD-DVD converter device. In the product page a demonstration video was linked which was, in actuality, a Rickroll.

Getting Ready For Plaster

Weather is nice and good progress is being made on the pool!

Waterfall wall is up!

Transition tile work from the pool to the wall.

It will take a ton of back fill to blend this wall into the landscaping.

Note the tile work underneath the cover track.

Power washed just before the plaster.

Cleaning system pipes have been cut down and capped for tomorrow's plaster work.

Tomorrow the pool will be filled with water. The plaster cures while submerged!
