Molave Update


Tropical Cyclone Bulletin

Here is the latest Tropical Cyclone Bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

The Strong Wind Signal, No. 3 is in force.

This means that winds with mean speeds of 41 to 62 kilometres per hour are expected.

At 9 p.m., Typhoon Molave was estimated to be about 170 kilometres east of Hong Kong (near 22.2 degrees north 115.8 degrees east) and is forecast to move west-northwest at about 22 kilometres per hour in the general direction of the Pearl River estuary.

Molave is expected to pass within 100 km of Hong Kong between midnight and daybreak tomorrow.

On its present track, the Observatory will consider issuing the Gale or Storm Wind Signal No. 8 around midnight tonight.

Under the influence of the rainbands of Molave, heavy rain and squalls will affect Hong Kong tomorrow. In the past hour, the maximum sustained winds recorded at Tate's Cairn and Ngong Ping were 53 and 52 kilometres per hour with maximum gusts 73 and 78 kilometres per hour respectively.
